Put interesting minds close enough for another connection to form.

Since 1980, Howard Pearlmutter has convened creative, co-creative, and eco-creative gatherings. By 2006, the history included more than forty such events.

The occasions brought different disciplines and possibilities into contact.

A gathering can become a source of ideas because another person's knowledge changes the questions available to you.

Emerging tools needed a shared encounter.

At SIGGRAPH in 1984, Howard chaired “Microcomputer Graphics,” bringing emerging personal-computing work before the computer-graphics community.

The session included the Macintosh, early appearances outside nondisclosure of the Amiga and Lucasfilm's Ballblazer and Rescue on Fractalus, and a historically record-setting large real-time interactive gaming event.

These are historical appearances, not current partnerships or promised participants in a new gathering.

The occasion made emerging possibilities something people could encounter together.

Environmental purpose invited another kind of room.

In 1995, David Brower convened environmental leaders to hear Howard speak on “Organizing for an Ecologically Healthy Economy.”

David Brower wrote:

No one has a clearer vision for the future of the environmental movement than Howard Pearlmutter

That historical witness describes a particular period and relationship. It also shows the breadth of the worlds Howard has brought into his creative work.

A useful encounter gives difference somewhere to contribute.

An idea, model, subject, or shared purpose can help participants connect what they know. A specialist does not have to abandon their depth. The gathering can make that depth relevant to someone else's possibility.
